Selfie Photos: Cell Phone Photo Helps Police Identify Alleged Burglar in California
Adam Howe is a young man who has done a lot of things in his life, most of which were the result of bad choices. The most recent chain of events in his life involved him breaking into a local church and completely destroying the house of worship. He also stole a bunch of items including a brand new computer and over $10,000 in cash.
He also went through and trashed the RV that was parked on the church property. He planned to get away with this but what Adam Howe did not plan was that he would be leaving his cell phone behind at the scene of the crime.
Before Adam Howe went into the local church, called "Hilltop Tabernacle Church on L Street," he took a picture of himself on the church property with his cell phone. When the police arrived at the crime scene, his cell phone was one of the first things they found and it was all the evidence that they needed in order to catch him.
They obtained a warrant to search his place of residence and inside cops found most of the stolen property that he took from the church and from the RV. Police also found clues that led them to an area behind the church near the river bank where a tent was set up and the rest of the stolen items were hidden.
Adam Howe was arrested and charged with two counts of burglary. He appeared in court yesterday and he will not be getting set free. This just goes to show you that doing illegal things and not being smart does not go hand in hand very well. We can learn from Adam Howe's mistakes and not leave evidence at the crime scene.
