French Montana Disses 50 Cent Effen Vodka, 'Kind of Watered Down,' Launches Instagram Feud
Instagram followers of 50 Cent and P. Diddy know the two rappers have been exchanging jabs in a heated vodka war: 50 Cents' Effen vodka versus Diddy's Ciroc brand of vodka.
The bitter exchange escalated to 50 Cent tweeting the hashtag #nopuffyjuice on Aug. 19, encouraging his loyal fans to boycott Ciroc.
On Saturday, DJ Spinking posted a video of rapper French Montana making snide remarks about Effen.
"Shout out to Effen vodka," Montana says in the video. "That sh*t kind of watered down, but I love it."
A few hours later, 50 Cent reposted the video on his Instagram account with the caption, "French Montana is down with us it's the unit. #EFFENVODKA #FRIGO #SMSAUDIO puffy tried to set him up,where his check at? The real money puff we street not stupid."
It seems 50 was implying Montana's remarks were masterminded by Diddy, Montana's boss at Bad Boy Records. 50's video post and caption did not sit well with the "Off the Rip" rapper who fired back on Saturday by posting the Instagram video of him dumping a box of unopened Effen vodka in the trash.
The caption reads, "This what I feel about your bullsh*t effen vodka @50cent lol This what happened after they took that clip just incase spin king ain't till you #thankmelater #cirocboys #lastnight #yousellinbullsh*t #nolovelost."
The "9 Shots" rapper countered with a bold video filmed inside his car in which he tells viewers he saw Montana trash his vodka and says that its probably because Diddy reprimanded the rapper for saying that he liked Effen. 50 then pretends to be Diddy calling Montana -- he even uses his hand as a pretend phone.
He followed up the video posting his meme to his Instagram account on Sunday aimed at Montana:
Montana saw the meme, it seems, because during a performance at 50 Cent's hometown on Monday, he addressed the matter, which was caught on video.
"Shout out to the Dunkey #50centâ¼ï¸ You know nobody f*ck with that Effen vodka over here," Montana says.
Which vodka is better? That depends on your taste, but currently, it seems consumers prefer Ciroc.
Sean Combs, a.k.a. Diddy, has recently been calling himself "Ciroc Obama," and he could very well be the "president of vodka" thanks to a lucrative deal with beverage giant Diageo. Forbes reports that Diddy receives an annual percentage of profits and if Ciroc is ever sold, he'll receive a huge sum of cash. The vodka's value is spiking toward $1 billion, according to Forbes.
50 Cent made Forbes' No. 5 on their Hip Hop's Wealthiest Artists 2015 list. His fortune is $155 million, much of that stemming from the $100 million he received from the sale of Vitaminwater in 2007. He's hoping for another financial win with Effen vodka, but presently, Diddy's Ciroc is out-selling Effen.
