Mel Gibson Denies Assaulting and Spitting on Female Photographer
Mel Gibson's U.S. publicist has released a statement denying reports that Gibson recently assaulted and spit on a female photographer.
The publicist's statement is in response to several Australian media outlets reporting that Gibson allegedly shoved, spat at, and shouted at News Corp Australia photographer Kristi Miller, the Guardian reports.
Miller also spoke out about the alleged incident, telling her employer The Daily Telegraph that Gibson shoved her while she was attempting to take a photo of him and his girlfriend Rosalind Ross.
"I took a photo of Mel and his girlfriend and when I turned around he shoved my back really hard. It shocked me because I wasn't expecting it. I don't know if it was his hands or elbow," she claimed.
TMZ adds that Miller also accused Gibson of "spitting in my face as he was yelling at me, calling me a dog, saying I'm not even a human being and I will go to hell."
But despite Miller's claims, Gibson's U.S. publicist Alan Nierob accused Miller of being the one harassing the actor.
"Basically Mr. Gibson and his friend were being harassed by this photographer and he asked her repeatedly to stop, which she did not," Nierob told the Guardian. "There was never any physical contact whatsoever and the story being told by her is a complete fabrication of the truth."
The Guardian reports that Surry Hills police have confirmed an investigation into what happened between Gibson and Miller. They are investigating reports that a man "became involved in an altercation with a photographer outside a cinema on Oxford Street" at 6:20 p.m. on Sunday."
This isn't the first time reports have surfaced of Gibson acting erratically and violently.
The Guardian reports that in 2010, a tape emerged of Gibson yelling at his mother in a sexist and racist rant.
Earlier in 2006, Gibson was arrested for driving drunk and going off on an antisemitic rant against his arresting officer.
