‘Dancing with the Stars’ Season 21 Cast: Bindi Irwin To Appear in DWTS; Demi Moore, Nick Carter Also Interested?
After much speculation, the first celebrity dancer for "Dancing with the Stars" Season 21 was finally unleashed: Bindi Irwin.
The announcement was made over Twitter on the official "Good Morning America" account, where all of the celebrity contestants will be revealed throughout the week.
"And the first celebrity on the new season of @DancingABC... Bindi Irwin! #GMADancing," the morning show's tweet on @GMA reads.
The daughter of the late Steve Irwin, animal activist Bindi Irwin will be showing off a new side on television when she steps into her dancing shoes for the upcoming season of the hit reality show. Although she grew up in front of the camera as part of her father's famous show "The Crocodile Hunter Diaries," being part of "Dancing with the Stars" will be a new challenge.
"I'm really, really excited and so honored to be a part of this new journey and new chapter of my life," the 17-year-old Irwin said on "Good Morning America," according to a report on E! Online. "This is completely different to anything I've ever done in my life, I'm used to wrangling crocodiles!"
Irwin's pro partner has not been announced yet, but a distinguished selection of professional dancers is already confirmed to return for the show's 21st season, including last season's Mirror Ball Trophy winner Val Chmerkovskiy and multiple winner Derek Hough.
With this latest update on the cast, more speculation arises on the personalities set to join Irwin. The week will bring more confirmed names, but there are already rumors on the celebrities who will be hitting the dance floor.
According to a report from E! News, actress Demi Moore turned down a spot on the upcoming season, despite being a mainstay in the audience during her daughter Rumer Willis' run to the top. Television personalities Caitlyn Jenner and Rick Schroeder also declined the invitation to appear on "Dancing with the Stars." "Fuller House" sweetheart Jodie Sweetin was very interested to dance onscreen, but was forced to back out due to the Netflix show she is currently committed to.
There are other celebrities who still stand a chance to appear on the hit television series, E! News reported. Among the famous faces who might be gracing the television screen for the next season are Backstreet Boys heartthrob Nick Carter and "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For" starlet Alexa Vega.
"Dancing with the Stars" Season 21 will premiere on September 14 on ABC.
