Pharrell Williams Songs, Hat, Lyrics & Album: 'Happy' Star Performs at NBA All-Star Game, Closes In On Top Billboard Spot
Pharrell Williams performed at the NBA All-Star Game, but it wasn't just a night of one performer along with star basketball players. The famous rapper was joined by All-Stars in the music industry as well.
Although it was not the Super Bowl stage that Bruno Mars enjoyed in early February, Pharrell collaborated with Snoop Lion, Nelly, Diddy, Busta Rhymes, and others in what was an unforgettable performance.
Pharrell has enjoyed great success as of late, especially with his hit song "Happy," which has skyrocketed all the way up to number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The rapper is also very well known for wearing a rather distinctive red hat and this has clearly helped him stand out as even more popular. He appeared on Piers Morgan this month and talked about his hat.
Pharrell said that he wears his hat as a dedication of sorts to the earlier days of when hip-hop was just getting started. More specifically, the idea for the hat emerged from Vivienne Westwood.
"This was her [Westwood] ode to Malcolm McLaren and the '80s and where, you know, when hip-hop was just sort of, you know, showing its face to the world and the way that it was sort of penetrating all of the demographics," he said to Morgan, who hosts his own show on CNN. "She was there very early on with Malcom McClaren and, you know, the 'Buffalo Stance' and the 'Buffalo Gals', and, that song was just like huge in all the neighborhoods of, you know, across America and respectively around the world."
