Billboard Latin Music Awards Top Contender & Bachata Star Romeo Santos Sets the Mood for 'The Bachelor'
Bachata giant Romeo Santos is on fire right now -- not only is he leading the pack with 17 nominations in 14 categories for the Billboard Latin Music Awards, but he also brought the heat to one of ABC's most popular shows, The Bachelor with a performance in South Beach on last night's episode.
The multi-platinum Latin music star helped Bachelor Juan Pablo Galavis set the mood and bring his A-game while he was on a date with Assistant District Attorney Andi, 26, who hails from Atlanta. Santos' smooth voice serenaded the couple with a special musical performance of "Cancioncitas de Amor" -- off his upcoming much anticipated Sony Music Latin album "Formula Vol. 2" (Feb. 25 release), as Juan Pablo tries to sweep her off her feet.
At the end of the episode, viewers get an inside look at how Andi, the self-proclaimed "worst dancer" who admits she has no rhythm, shows her fellow Bachelor contestant, Nikki her "moves" -- and just how bad they really are! While it appears that Juan Pablo is smitten with Andi, The Bachelor previews reveal that there may be trouble in paradise later down the road. Maybe the sultry sounds of Santos were needed in the background to keep the romance going?
Santos, who is of Dominican and Puerto Rican descent, is followed by Dominican singer-songwriter Prince Royce and longtime Puerto Rican salsa giant Marc Anthony, who are close behind with 16 and 15 Billboard Latin Music Award nominations, according to Billboard.
This has been a stellar year for Santos, "who is fresh off of a No. 1 debut on Billboard's Latin Airplay chart with new single 'Odio' featuring Drake."
Santos' warm welcome to the industry includes nominations for: Songwriter of the Year, Tropical Albums Artist of the Year and Producer of the Year, with many of his nods coming off early success from the singles of his yet to be released sophomore solo set, "Formula Vol. 2," due out Feb. 25.
The Billboard Latin Music Awards 2014 will broadcast live on Telemundo April 24.
