Samsung Galaxy S5 Release Date, Features & Price: Fingerprint Scanner, Software Improvements Coming?
Fingerprint technology is the next big thing in smartphone technology and safety.
The Samsung Galaxy S5, which is expected to be shown to the public this month, will reportedly feature a fingerprint scanner, according to SamMobile.
It is not in the least bit surprising to see the fingerprint scanner on the phone in a time when smartphone theft remains prevalent. Samsung seems to be picking up on Apple's iPhone 5s device, which has a similar fingerprint sensor that was created to help crack down on smartphone theft.
With all of this being said, the Samsung Galaxy S5 has been the center of a wide variety of rumors -- perhaps even more than the usual smartphone release rumors. It is hard to know just what to believe at this point in time, but everything will be confirmed when the company rolls out the new device in the near future.
The New York Times reports that the phone's release might not be as big of a splash as the Samsung Galaxy S4 release, which was at Radio City Music Hall. The reason for this stems from the apparent underperformance of the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Samsung would rather not set the bar so high this time around. According to The New York Times, the design and the software will both be undergoing changes and improvements in the new Samsung Galaxy phone -- this includes a potential eye scanner on top of the fingerprint scanner.
All in all, we will just have to wait to see what happens when the phone gets rolled out in what is expected to be a lower-key launch in Barcelona, Spain. According to The New York Times, journalists have already received invitations to the event.
