'Assassin's Creed 4' Cheats, DLC & Review: 'AC' Board Game Confirmed
"Assassin's Creed" has entered the realm of table-top gaming in the form of "Assassin's Creed: Arena", IGN reports. Ubisoft announced that it has partnered with game-maker Cryptozoic Entertainment in creating the board game version of the popular video game. This is the same company behind "The Walking Dead", "The Hobbit", and "Adventure Time" card games.
Anna Lewis, Ubisoft's Communications Associate, posted on the company's blog that "Arena" is a "strategic game of cat-and-mouse that pits 2-4 players against each other in a race for kills. Take on targets or other players to rack up Victory Points as you move across the rooftops of Constantinople, avoiding passing guards."
Players can choose to play as the Templars from "Assassin's Creed: Revelations", the Guardian Odai Dunqas, the Vanguard Oksana Razin, the Renegade Shahkulu, and the Gladiator Anacletos.
According to Cryptozoic Entertainment's site, "Combat is handled through cardplay, and the player who best manages their cards will have the best chance at victory...No dice required. Although a six-sided die is included to resolve some guard movement."
Basically, your life in the game will depend on the number of cards you are holding. Every move in the game, including attacking targets, requires cards. So, carefully planning each move to prevent losing cards quickly is essential in winning in this game.
Lewis noted that the board game is designed for players over 15 years old. The reason behind this is because "It's very high-risk, high-reward, and has a lot of rules." Although the instructions are easy to comprehend, she included a breakdown of the game in her post to assist first-time table-top gamers.
"Assassin's Creed: Arena" is scheduled for release on February 26, 2014. It has an estimated playing time of 30 to 45 minutes and a suggested retail price of $50.00.
The box set contains 60 event cards, 90 action cards, 4 oversized assassin character cards, 4 assassin pawns with bases, 9 guard pawns with bases, 51 target tokens, 12 bonus victory point tokens, 1 six-sided game die, 1 game board, and 1 rulebook.
