2015 US Open Tennis Day 1 Schedule, Streaming, Match Times: Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams To See Action
Top seeds Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams will kick off their campaign in Day 1 of the 2015 US Open Tennis on Monday at Flushing Meadows in New York.
Djokovic, who is eyeing his 10th Grand Slam title and his second at Flushing Meadows, will kick off his campaign against Joao Souza of Brazil at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Djokovic is a heavy favorite heading into the match against the unseeded Souza. As the top seed, Djokovic is also tipped to win the tournament, but the Serb insisted that fans should look out for veterans like Roger Federer.
The top-seeded superstar said that Federer is in top form heading into the tournament after the 17-time Grand Slam champion won the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati last week.
Federer, who is a five-time US Open champion, will not see action in the opening day, but another veteran is expected to have a share of the spotlight again on Monday.
Rafael Nadal, who has been struggling to regain his championship form over the past several months, will also kick off his campaign in Day 1 against unseeded Borna Coric of Croatia at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Nadal, who won the tournament in 2010 and 2013, knows most fans and analysts are already counting him out, but the Spanish tennis superstar said that he will go all out to prove his doubters wrong.
Meanwhile, Serena Williams will begin her chase for her fourth Grand Slam title this year, when she takes on Vitalia Diatchenko of Russia at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Williams has been on a roll this year. After winning the US Open title last year, the 33-year-old kept her momentum this year and won the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon.
She is looking to become the first player to win all four Grand Slams in a year since Steffi Graf in 1988. She is also trying to tie Chris Evert's record of four consecutive US Open titles from 1975 to 1978.
