Chris Brown, Royalty Baby News 2015: 'New Flame' Singer Seeks Joint Custody of Daughter, Nia Guzman’s Boyfriend is a Fugitive [Watch]
Recording artist Chris Brown reportedly will battle baby mama Nia Guzman for joint custody of their daughter Royalty, claiming that Guzman's live-in boyfriend, King Ba, is a bad influence and a criminal, reports TMZ.
Brown, 26, who also has a criminal history and voluntarily admitted himself to a rehab facility in November 2013 for "acting violently," plans to counter Guzman's move for full custody of their one-year-old daughter with the defense that Ba is a danger to the child.
King Ba, whose real name is Brazil Riesling, is accused of forging more than $5,000 worth of U.S. Treasury checks, depositing them into bank accounts, and withdrawing the money from those accounts. Police have reportedly charged him with fraud. He is currently a wanted man.
As a result, the "Loyal" singer will demand equal parenting rights of Royalty when he appears in court mid-September, according to TMZ.
Guzman has claimed that Brown's drug use and violent acquaintances could endanger their child. She wants to limit the singer to supervised custody of their daughter.
"[Nia] thinks many of Chris' friends are gang members or gang-affiliated, and the robbery shows they've now turned on Chris," a source told TMZ.
Brown has increased security at his home following the recent break-in and denies that Royalty has ever been exposed to drugs or violence. He reportedly believes Guzman's desire for full custody of their daughter has more to do with money than caring for the girl's safety.
"Some men my age run from their responsibility as fathers. I embrace mine. Just sucks that some females use children as meal tickets," the singer tweeted on Aug. 12.
In July, TMZ reported that Brown refused a $10,000 per month child support agreement after Royalty was sent to his mother, Joyce Hawkins, when he planned to visit.
The "Autumn Leaves" singer recently filed court documents to establish his paternity of Royalty, who was conceived during a fling with Nia, but a judge has not yet ruled on the matter.
Ba is listed on Royalty's birth certificate as her father, though Brown publicly confirmed he was the girl's father in an April Instagram post.
Royalty is currently in her mother's primary custody.
