BRIT Awards 2014 Beyonce Performance: Watch Her Perform 'XO' Here [Video]
Beyonce graced the 2014 BRIT Awards with the debut live performance of her song, "XO." Watch video below.
Hollywood Life reports that unlike her previous live performances, Beyonce didn't surprise the crowd inside London's O2 Arena using theatrics. No back-up dancers, no pyrotechnics, no daring costumes, just pure vocal talent. A few flashing lights were used of course, but only to focus the attention of the crowd to the singer.
Before wowing the people with her voice, Beyonce dedicated her performance to all the those who support her and said, "I'd like to dedicate this song to my incredible fans. I love ya'll."
But the first live performance of "XO" wasn't the only talk of the night. Beyonce bedazzled the award program even more with her outfit. According to E! Online, the singer wore a long, green, form-fitting Vrettos Vrettakos gown that shined during her performance. The gown, which contained 140,000 zircon crystals made Beyonce appear like a glistening mermaid on stage.
Those familiar with the "XO" track will surely notice that the singer did not include the controversial audio clip in her live performance. The clip, which can be heard at the beginning of the recorded track, was taken from the 1986 NASA Challenger explosion which led to the death of seven Americans.
Upon the release of "XO", the government agency criticized Beyonce for being insensitive and said in a statement, "The Challenger accident is an important part of our history, a tragic reminder that space exploration is risky and should never be trivialized."
The singer responded, "My heart goes out to the families of those lost in the Challenger disaster. The song 'XO' was recorded with the sincerest intention to help heal those who have lost loved ones and to remind us that unexpected things happen, so love and appreciate every minute that you have with those who mean the most to you."
