'Frozen' Star Idina Menzel Buys $2.68 Million Encino Home, Talks About Broadway Adaptation of Hit Movie
Broadway singer Idina Menzel has just acquired a Los Angeles home.
Menzel, who is famed for lending her voice to Queen Elsa in the 2013 Disney movie "Frozen," buys an Encino property worth almost $2.68 million, Los Angeles Times reported, citing real estate records. The 44-year-old singer, who captured millions of kids and adults alike through her powerful rendition of "Let It Go," also shares ownership to stage actor Aaron Lohr, whom she met in the "Rent" film, noted the news outlet.
Listing agents who brokered the sale were Kelly Sutherland of Coldwell Banker and Nancie Richards of Douglas Elliman, while Michael Collins of Coldwell Banker and Daniel Banchik of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties represented Menzel and Lohr.
The 4,708-square-foot residence of the Tony-Award-winning performer reportedly includes five bedrooms, an office, a laundry area and six bathrooms. The house features an open floor plan concept evident, where one great room contains the living area, family room and dining room. The Encino home, built in the late 1950s, also boasts a modern kitchen with trendy marble-lined countertops, ample storage space, a center island that serves as a working station, a snack bar and another dining or breakfast area.
The "Wicked" singer's dwelling place features Mediterranean-inspired interior with stylish accents such as hand-carved Peruvian doors, recessed lighting, wide glass panels, a predominantly white to cream color motif for walls and ceilings as well as a wooden flooring.
Outdoors, the expansive estate, which sprawls more than three-quarters of an acre, displays a covered patio, a well-manicured lawn and a swimming pool that is equipped with a spa. Aside from that, Menzel and Lohr will be treated and mesmerized by beautiful views of the city and surrounding canyon.
Aside from appearing in movies and Broadway productions, Menzel also showcased her talent several times in the hit TV series "Glee." In the show, she portrayed Shelby Corcoran, the mother of Rachelle Berry (Lea Michele).
Superstar status because of "Frozen"
Although she already proved so much on stage and in films, she rose to great heights and mass appeal when she lent her voice to Elsa on "Frozen" and belted "Let It Go" with ease and great power, as per Montreal Gazette. Will she be willing to be part of the Broadway project for "Frozen?"
"We'll see if they want me to. They're still working on the story, and I might be too old to play Elsa onstage." Menzel told the news outlet.
