Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith Offers California Property for $4 Million
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith is saying goodbye to his California property.
The 31-year-old quarterback, who formerly played for the San Francisco 49ers, offers his Monte Sereno estate for almost $4 million, Los Angeles Times reported. The NFL player purchased the said residence four years ago for $3.63 million while still with the 49ers, noted the site, citing public records. Smith has commissioned Cherish Atkinson of Sereno Group to handle the listing.
The 4,650-square-foot home reportedly includes four bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms. Other living areas and amenities are a formal dining room, den that also serves as an office, wine refrigerator, living room with a fireplace, casual dining area and chic kitchen adorned with ornate chandeliers and a center island.
The interior of the two-story French Villa-themed home features arched French doors and glass panels. Although the Monte Sereno abode was just constructed five years ago, it boasts an ambiance of an elegant old home with century-old reclaimed wood beams and "antique limestone floors."
Outdoors, the expansive grounds measure almost half an acre. It features a spacious, well-maintained lawn and patio. A lovely outdoor party may be planned as there's an outdoor kitchen to make it more convenient. For entertainment, there's a bocce ball court nearby to break the ice among guests.
Staying with the Chiefs
Just last year, the Kansas team and Smith agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $68 million, as per CBS Sports. According to Jason La Canfora's September 2014 tweet, the Chief's quarterback inked a deal, which also gave him an $18 million signing bonus.
The Chiefs see Smith as a long-term investment for the team, as stated by franchise general manager John Dorsey.
"It was a priority of ours to get this deal done and keep Alex in a Chiefs uniform long-term. Alex is a proven leader on and off the field. He is a special individual with a lot of ability, and we are fortunate to have him here," Dorsey said to CBS Sports.
Even before the deal was done, Smith was waiting for a contract worthy of what he felt he contributed, The Kansas City Star noted in July 2014.
"I'd love to have it done. I love Kansas City, I love the coaching staff, the players...But when you're talking about this many years and that type of deal, you want it done right. You want both sides happy, and you want it to be something that is going to last and you can play out," Smith said.
Smith amassed 6,578 passing yards while at Kansas for two seasons, per ESPN stats.
