Katy Perry Slams Fan’s Ex in Expletive-Filled Text For Saying She Can't Sing Live, 'Roar' Singer Denies It [Watch]
A meme has been touted as an expletive-filled text message singer Katy Perry sent from a fan's smartphone in December 2014 during the Australian leg of her Prismatic World Tour, something she has vehemently denied, reports E! Online.
On Monday, Perry tweeted, "I NEVER wrote those words, that is an EDITED picture or the person added it after I took it. I would NEVER use the C word."
The incident that started it all was captured on a YouTube video, showing Perry looking through a fan's smartphone during her Prismatic tour.
In the fan's WhatsApp account, the 30-year-old singer saw the last message received from the girl's ex-boyfriend, which was about her.
In the video clip, Perry reads the message out loud to her audience, "LOL, I heard she can't sing live at all."
The "California Gurls" hit maker seems amused by the message.
"He's your ex-boyfriend and you still have a WhatsApp group with him? What are you doing?" she says to the fan, and adds, "Do not text your ex. We need to talk after the show."
After taking a selfie with the fan's phone, she told the crowd, "He's not going to be happy about that."
Weeks after the concert ended, a meme surfaced of the selfie with an alleged text message from Perry that reads, "You thought I would never see this chat, you d*ckless monkey. You have no balls, p*ssy. C*nt."
The "Dark Horse" crooner denied she wrote the message and was vindicated when one of her fans confessed to the prank.
"I put this together back in December as a joke with NO intentions of any conflict. Please realize I had no bad intentions," Philadelphia-based fan @iwasdivine tweeted on Monday to the "Teenage Dream" singer.
"If anything it was supposed to make people laugh, not spread like wildfire through media. I apologize for any confusions," he tweeted.
Perry retweeted his message and wrote, "Thank you for your apology."
The fan explained that he had created the meme for humor, not to cause harm.
"I will always love and support Katy as an artist and a person. The media, not so much," he tweeted. "They'll do anything for attention even if it humiliates some. My tweets are strictly for humor, love, and nothing else."
