'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Season 3 Spoilers: Grant Ward & Daisy Johnson Romance Still On?
Will Grant Ward and Daisy Johnson find a way to have a fresh start and rekindle the romance in "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 3?
Executive producer Jeff Bell crushed a fan's hope of a possible continuation of the "Skyeward" loveteam next season, TV Line reported.
A fan, Lily, wrote that "'Skyeward' shippers are still holding out hope that their 'ship has a chance." Lily asked if it would just be "all in vain."
"Ward fell for Agent 33 last year, and after Daisy had put a couple bullets in him, it sure felt to me like he he'd moved on," Bell replied.
The former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, Ward (Brett Dalton) became close to Skye's/Daisy's (Chloe Bennet) in season 1, when Grant became Skye's supervising officer. An Asgardian visitor, Lorelei (Elena Satine), revealed to Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) that Ward's true love is not her, meaning it was Skye all along.
Towards the latter part of the first season, it was disclosed that Ward was a traitor working for the opposing group, Hydra. It was also Skye who was the first one in Phil Coulson's (Clark Gregg) team to discover Grant's secret identity after she deduced that it was Ward who killed Eric Koenig (Patton Oswalt) a trusted member of the agency. Later on, Ward also obeyed to sacrifice dear friends Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) and Leo Fitz (Iain de Caestecker) by launching them in an enclosed vessel from the plane. Although Simmons and Fitz survived, the team members were hurt of how Ward betrayed them.
Thus, in the second season, when presented with an opportunity, Skye/Daisy, who harbors hatred towards Ward, shot him. This was the moment Ward reportedly "moved on" from his feelings towards Skye, and, instead, focused them on Kara or Agent 33 (Maya Stojan), whom he, unfortunately, killed last season, thinking she was Agent May.
However, the show's executive still said that "anything is possible" but it is very likely that Ward will be "less interested in snuggling with Skye than in getting payback for what happened to Kara."
Dalton confirmed on ComicVine that his character will rebuild Hydra in Ward's vision and be a great threat to the agency.
"I'm the main baddie now," Dalton said.
"S.H.I.E.L.D. can be directly responsible, in his eyes, for two failed relationships that he's tried to have which were very important to him—one with Skye and one with Agent 33. If it weren't for S.H.I.E.L.D. meddling in all his affairs, he'd be a much happier man. So there's an axe to grind," Dalton said.
