The Mi 4c might be Xiaomi's only contribution to the rumor mills this week. To recall, a still of its packaging recently surfaced from China.

The Mi 4c is said to flaunt a five-inch 1080p display, 3,080 mAh battery. Its 1.4GHz hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor from Qualcomm will comprise of two Cortex-A57 CPU cores, four A53 cores and an Adreno 418 GPU. The device will come with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage.

However, Xiaomi's other unreleased offering has made its presence felt before the week ends.

A leaked ad of Xiaomi's upcoming Mi 5 recently surfaced online. The teaser, which was first reported on Italian tech site Tech Zoom, hinted at a fingerprint scanning feature on the device although not much else was revealed.

As minor as it may seem, the latest leak holds a pivotal clue for future Xiaomi gadgets. Fingerprint scanners have become the norm on high-end smartphones. Mid-tier handsets, meanwhile, have just started to follow suit this year. Needless to say, Xiaomi has noticed the trend. The Chinese mobile manufacturer has yet to produce a device with the said feature, but in all likelihood and basing from the latest leak, they're planning to do so starting with the Mi 5. This will likely continue with their future handsets.

As for what else is known of the Mi 5, Xiaomi Today has the scoop. Its rumored specs sheet is as follows:

  • 5.3-inch QHD (1440x2560) screen with 554ppi pixel density
  • 16 GB or 64 GB internal storage variants with no support for expandable memory
  • 4 GB of RAM
  • 16-megapixel main camera with dual-LED flash
  • 3,030 mAh battery
  • Fingerprint sensor (as confirmed above)
  • USB Type-C port support

The Mi 5 is sure to run on Xiaomi's new MIUI 7 OS. What is not so sure is the processor it will ultimately run on. The Chinese company is currently debating between the Snapdragon 820 and the ten-core MediaTek Helio X20.

However, if a recent benchmarking is to be considered, the Helio X20 is the clear choice.

GSM Arena previously reported that a Xiaomi Mi 5 fitted with MediaTek's Helio X20 SoC tallied 73,075 AnTuTu benchmark points, eclipsing previous frontrunners Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge with scores just slightly above the 70k mark. Samsung devices are powered by the Exynos-7420 chipset.

No official release date has been set in stone yet, although rumor has it that the Mi 5 will launch alongside the Mi 5 Plus phablet this November.
