'Rise of the Tomb Raider' Xbox One Gameplay: Multiplayer Mode Removed?
With all of the details that are being leaked about the hotly anticipated "Rise of the Tomb Raider," there is one particular detail that hasn't been addressed until now. The new sequel of the Lara Croft game will not be featuring the multi-player option that was available for the last "Tomb Raider" reboot.
According to the All Games Beta Twitter account, the news was announced in the latest issue of the Official Xbox Magazine.
"Was this known? Rise of the Tomb Raider won't have multiplayer - From Xbox Magazine #128 (September 2015)," the tweet read. The quote from the magazine said, "With multiplayer cut from the experience, Crystal Dynamics needed to make this core campaign as entertaining as possible."
The multiplayer element is a big feature that has been eliminated from the action-adventure game, but it's one that was not well-received in the previous reboot, according to a report from PlayStation Lifestyle. By scrapping this, developer Crystal Dynamics can pour all their resources and energy in making the single-player game as amazing as possible.
At the end of the well-received "Tomb Raider," Lara Croft was discredited by the powerful organization Trinity. In order to save her reputation, she races to Siberia with Jonah Maiava to look for the ancient city Kitezh, where Lara believes the secret of immortality is buried.
The previous game of the franchise was critically acclaimed, and the sequel has garnered positive reviews so far. Trailers have allowed fans to get a glimpse of the much-awaited "Rise of the Tomb Raider", particularly the Gamescom Demo that provided an in-depth look at the upcoming game.
According to Cinema Blend, the demo was able to show how the game will focus on exploring tombs and seeking artifacts, which is an upgrade from the previous game's tendency to favor survival and fighting storylines. Fans will get to go back to the Lara Croft they fell in love with in the older "Tomb Raider" titles.
A special collector's edition will also be released, containing treasures that long-time players will appreciate. Included in the package is a copy of the game, a 12-inch statue of Lara Croft, a collectible steel case, a replica of Lara's leather in-game journal, a model of Lara's jade necklace and the strap that was given to her by the late Conrad Roth. It's available for pre-order at the official "Rise of the Tomb Raider" website and Square Enix's online store.
"Rise of the Tomb Raider" for Xbox One and Xbox 360 will be released in North America on Nov. 10 and in Europe on Nov. 13. The PlayStation 4 and PC game will be launched later in 2016.
