Uruguay and Costa Rica will play each other in an international soccer friendly on Tuesday night. With league play (La Liga, English premier League, etc..) taking a break around the world, soccer fans have the pleasure of watching their national teams go head to head.

Let's preview this Latin American soccer match and pick a winner.

Uruguay (18)

Uruguay will be without two of their most talented players on Tuesday night. Barcelona forward Luis Suárez is still serving his biting suspension from the 2014 FIFA World Cup, and Edinson Cavani is finishing a suspension as well.

Despite not having either striker in their last game, Uruguay still managed to beat Panama 1-0 on the road last week. An impressive win. Christian Stuani scored the only goal in that game, while goalkeeper Fernando Muslera earned another clean sheet. Head coach Óscar Tabárez has already named Muslera the starting goalie against Costa Rica.

Team captain Diego Godín will be on the field again for Uruguay leading a very powerful defense. Maxi Pereira and Álvaro Pereira help solidify one of the best defensive units in all of South America. Uruguay was previously eliminated by Chile in the Copa America quarterfinals, and they are already preparing for next year's Copa America. Don't forget: The 2016 Copa America will be in the United States.

Stuani will lead a short stacked offense, while Cristian Rodríguez and Egidio Arévalo Ríos will command the middle fielders.

Costa Rica (39)

Uruguay may be ranked higher, but it was Costa Rica who beat Uruguay at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. As a matter of fact, Costa Rica even advanced to the quarterfinals of the World Cup after they defeated Greece in the round of 16. Costa Rica has won the last two games against Uruguay.

It was a bit of a disappointing Gold Cup for Costa Rica. Despite being favored by many soccer experts to win the CONCACAF tournament, Costa Rica fell to Mexico in the first round 1-0 in extra time. Costa Rica also lost their international friendly game last week to Brazil 1-0, despite the fact that Neymar did not even play.

Costa Rica's offense was not impressive at all against Brazil. Paulo Wanchope's team couldn't manage to get a single shot on goal in that game. Backup goalkeeper Patrick Pemberton is scheduled to start in net once again, and one of Costa Rica's best scorers, Esteban Alvarado, should get playing time. Celso Borges will be starting once again in the middle field, and team captain Bryan Ruiz will be in the lineup.

Costa Rica's next friendly will be against South Africa in October.

Schedule, Where to Watch

Uruguay and Costa Rica will play each other Tuesday, Sep. 8, at 10 p.m. ET. The game will be played at the Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica in San Jose, Costa Rica. You can watch a live game stream here.

Prediction

Neither team is at 100 percent full strength, but it is always a must-watch game when these two teams collide. Costa Rica will have home field advantage, but Uruguay is a very good road squad with an excellent defense. Having Muslera in goal should be the difference-maker for a Uruguay victory.

Uruguay wins 2-1
