According to a report by The Falcoholic, the current offensive line of the Atlanta Falcons looks shaky to start the season. In a report by ESPN, the Falcons' offensive line were dominated in their preseason game against the Miami Dolphins and Ndamukong Suh. Their main priority is to protect quarterback Matt Ryan, but they also need to develop chemistry in order to run Kyle Shanahan's outside zone blocking system.

Falcons' coach Dan Quinn said after the game against the Dolphins that they need to work on their offensive line woes. He stated, as quoted by ESPN, "No doubt we had some (issues) tonight. Again, I'll go to the other side and give the Dolphins some credit with the way they played tonight, too. I think that's the number one thing: 'Let's go back and take a look at it and go back and see all the areas that we can improve, and that's going to be the sole focus heading into practice on Monday.'"

Atlanta's 53-man roster had nine players for the offensive line namely Jake Matthews, Ryan Schraeder, Joe Hawley, Andy Levitre, Chris Chester, Mike Person, Tyler Polumbus, James Stone and Bryce Harris. ESPN reports that the Falcons recently released Hawley to make room for center Gino Gradkowski.

Gradkowski was put on waiver by the Denver Broncos, and the Falcons claimed him to help the offensive line. The released Hawley just recovered from a torn anterior and medial collateral ligament in his right knee.

In a separate report from ESPN, Matthews was sidelined before the game in Miami while Polumbus injured his knee during the game. Coach Quinn was asked about the former first overall pick Jake Long being signed, "Yes, somebody we still have talked about, for sure. And a guy we have lots of regard for. Not a topic that we've discussed with him in that length. I'll wait to see where we're at in regard to the injuries before we move forward in that way in terms of future players," Quinn answered.

Adam Schefter broke the news on Twitter that Long was cleared by Dr. James Andrews after tearing his ACL last October. According to Bleacher Report, the 30-year-old offensive tackle worked out with the New York Giants and the Falcons earlier in the season.

Long is scheduled to work out with the Falcons according this Wednesday, according to NFL.com, but Dan Graziano reports that the Giants remain interested with the four-time Pro Bowler. The Falcons and the Giants look to battle for the signature of Long, whose goal is to get healthy for the entire 2015 season after two major knee injuries.
