Apple iPhone 6s vs iPhone 6 Specs, Price: New Features Include Improved Camera, 3-D Touch and Stronger Body
Apple introduced the iPhone 6s Wednesday at a special press event in San Francisco. From the naked eye, the iPhone 6s looks just like the iPhone 6 but changes were definitely made to the smartphone. The event was also livestreamed for the world to watch.
The iPhone 6s is designed with a stronger build than the iPhone 6. The Series 7000 aluminum that the iPhone 6s uses is extra strong and it will keep the device in good shape. The screen is also getting what Apple calls "the strongest cover glass" in the smartphone industry. Apple did not give a brand or material name for the cover glass, so it is unlikely sapphire glass. The iPhone 6 does not use Series 7000 nor does it offer strong cover glass.
The glass on the iPhone 6s will also be updated with pressure-sensitive 3-D Touch technology. This technology is similar to Force Touch on the Apple Watch where the screen detects the amount of pressure put on the screen to respond in different ways. The iPhone 6 does not offer 3-D Touch technology.
The camera was improved from 8 megapixels (MP) on the iPhone 6 to 12 MP on the iPhone 6s. Apple showed off some of the excellent pictures that can be taken with the iPhone 6s. With the new camera on the iPhone 6s, Live Photos will make still pictures come to life with short movements when looked at. The videos on the iPhone 6s will also be better than the iPhone 6 with support for 4K videos.
TouchID which Apple has used since the iPhone 5s to allow users to unlock their iPhones and authorize payments will be twice as fast on the iPhone 6s than the iPhone 6.
The processor inside the iPhone 6 is the A8 chip. Inside the iPhone 6s is the A9 processor. The A9 processor will be 70 percent faster for computing tasks and 90 percent faster for graphics tasks. This means an extremely fast iPhone 6s and better gaming on the iPhone 6s than the iPhone 6.
With the introduction of the iPhone 6s, the iPhone 6 will drop by $100 in price.
