The Cleveland Cavaliers and Tristan Thompson are still far from reaching an agreement, which is creating speculation that the Cavs and their power forward will eventually part ways next summer.

According to Michael Scotto of Sheridan Hoops, Thompson's agent Rich Paul reportedly received words from three teams that they are willing to offer a maximum contract to the 24-year-old power forward if he becomes an unrestricted free agent next summer.

Paul previously said that Thompson, a restricted free agent this offseason, might just accept the one-year qualifying offer from the Cavaliers this season, but he revealed that the Canadian forward will not return to Cleveland next year.

Ric Bucher of Bleacher Report recently revealed that the Toronto Raptors are willing to give a max deal to the Toronto native. According to CBS Sports, the Raptors will make a run at signing Thompson as part of their plan to lure Andrew Wiggins to return to Canada when he becomes a free agent in the future.

It is unclear if the Raptors are one of the three teams Scotto mentioned on Twitter. But there will be several teams next season who will have enough cap space to offer a max deal to Thompson. The salary cap is also expected to increase dramatically in 2016 because of the new television deal.

Cleveland Cavaliers Won't Budge?

Thompson and his agent are reportedly lobbying for a maximum five-year deal worth around $94 million, but the Cavaliers are only willing to give a five-year, $80 million contract.

Chuck Myron of Hoops Rumors thinks the Cavaliers do not want to part ways with Thompson. The NBA insider expects Cleveland to remain firm on their offer. The Cavaliers are convinced that their recent offer is enough for Thompson based on his numbers and contribution last season.

As for the three teams who are allegedly willing to offer a max deal next summer, Myron pointed out that anything can still happen between now and next free agency.

Thompson, who was the fourth overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, averaged 8.5 points and 8.0 rebounds last season. He played a big role during the playoffs last season, but he is still expected to play behind All-Star power forward Kevin Love in the 2015-16 NBA season.

Thompson's minutes, which was at 26.8 last season, could also go down this year. Aside from Love, he will also compete for playing time with Anderson Varejao and Timofey Mozgov. The Cavaliers also confirmed on Wednesday that they have signed Russian center Sasha Kaun to a two-year deal.
