Olympic Gold Medalist and wrestler Kurt Angle was a guest on 105.9 The X in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and revealed that he won't be resigning with TNA when his contract expires at the end of the year, as reported by F4WOnline. Angle said that he will take a break from wrestling, which fuelled the rumors of a possible return to WWE.

As reported by Wrestling Inc, he won't be pursuing a return to WWE. The 1996 Gold Medal spent seven and a half years with the WWE before asking for his release in 2006. He cited that he needs some time off to heal various injuries and gave an interview with WWE.com regarding his departure.

"My body is so beat up and run down, I can't even think straight. I need my body to re-heal and rehab, I have done this for too long without a break. I haven't been able to really enjoy my life. I haven't seen my family. I've had problems with medication. I'm just fried physically and mentally," Angle said via WWE.com in 2006.

Angle went on to wrestle for TNA at the end of 2006 up to present. In a special report by Sports Illustrated, Angle revealed that he planned on finishing his TNA contract last September 2014 and finish up with the WWE, but Angle re-signed with TNA late last year after negotiations with the Connecticut-based company failed.

"I haven't spoke openly about this but I opened up my options and was going to decide between TNA and WWE. I wasn't going to leave TNA unless WWE was offering a fair deal," the 46-year-old wrestler said.

He also said that he called WWE chairman Vince McMahon about a possible contract but was informed that he should talk to Paul "Triple H" Levesque. "Paul is in charge. I found that out when I contacted Vince. I've always had a good relationship with Paul, so I didn't consider that a problem. But he decided they had enough talent. I don't know what was going on over there, but they even cancelled our meeting. I never went to see them. They didn't even sit me down and talk to me," Angle said.

Like many wrestling fans, Angle knows that WWE would have been better if they added a legend like him. "But I'm going to be straight with you. The WWE would have made more money this year if they would have signed me. That's no secret," the Olympian added.

WWE must have been scared of Angle's issues, but according to Sports Illustrated, he has been clean the past two years. "I've learned a lot in the past year and a half. I've had some real ups and downs. I have kids and a wife, and my top priority isn't wrestling anymore," Angle said.
