'Dark Souls 3' Release Date & Gameplay: Fast Travel, Familiar Magic Spell, Multiplayer Mode & More Details Teased
Fans of "Souls" series sure can't wait after creator Hidetaka Miyazaki revealed, via an interview with Game Informer, some new details about the magic system in "Dark Souls III." In his studio in Tokyo, Japan, Miyazaki talked about the new strategic options for spells and how to control the magic systems.
The current president of FromSoftware confirmed the return of magic abilities like miracles and fireball-slinging pyromancy but also said that they are trying to discern spells from one another to improve the player's character.
"We will make sure that they are not just the same type of spells with different attributes (i.e. Spear type, lightning type) but actually have specific characteristics that can enhance the players' play styles and strategies," Miyazaki told Game Informer.
"Players will be able to have more criteria to accurately choose the different types of spells to best fit their tactics and strategies. This is similar to the thinking behind the characterization of each weapon and their specific battle arts," the "Souls" creator added.
Miyazaki also revealed that magic in "Dark Souls III" will be having a traditional MP bar, saying, "By changing the magic management system to an MP scheme, options and freedom of utilization should increase. This way we can better clarify the differences in managing items and magic."
Other details for "Dark Souls III" from a separate report by Game Informer include the return of fast travel from "Dark Souls II." It is available from the very beginning of the game because Miyazaki wants to keep the convenience feature from previous titles as long as it does not hinder the development of the game design.
"Dark Souls III" will also feature new weapons and enemy placement. It will also include the traditional summoning system multiplayer mode but without relying on cracked red orbs for invasion, as reported by Game Rant.
In Game Informer, Miyazaki also mentioned that hidden walls will also return to the game but players have to engage in battle like in "Dark Souls I." According to him, "This is due to my thinking behind this type of feature. I like to have coincidences happen during battles, or accidental reveals due to swinging weapons around, randomly shooting arrows. I want to implement this sort of surprise discovery in a natural way when playing the game."
"Dark Souls III" will be available for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with a release date sometime in early 2016, according to Game Rant.
