Robin Thicke and Paula Patton Divorce: Was Blurred Lines Singer's Grinding with Miley Cyrus at VMAs the Cause?
It's officially official: after more than 20 years together -- in a relationship that started when the pair was still in their early teens -- actress Paula Patton and "Blurred Lines" singer Robin Thicke have "mutually" decided to end their relationship.
According to CNN, the couple -- who have a 4-year-old son, Julian, together -- announced their separation, but haven't made clear if they were getting a divorce. "We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time," the pair said in a joint statement released to the media.
Needless to say, the speculation surrounding their split has begun. According to TMZ, even though the pair admitted to having an "open relationship," Patton is reportedly tired of Thicke's constant flirting with other women (including the infamous "grab-ass" photo with a buxom blonde fan), and her soon-to-be ex-husband's raunchy dance with Miley Cyrus at last year's Video Music Awards certainly didn't help matters. Even though Patton, at the time, said that Thicke's disrespectful behavior didn't bother her...no woman, regardless of "fame" or "openness" of the relationship, would tolerate being disrespected in such a blatant manner for an extended period of time.
Of course, the "socialite" (is that the new euphemism for "slut" these days?) behind Thicke's "grab-ass" photo, Lana Scolaro, has released a statement of her own about the Thicke-Patton split: "Robin acting like that with me makes me think there were many more. It's a shame because when you have a kid, it's upsetting. But I'd love to grab a drink with him, if he asked."
It's not like Robin could keep his dalliances on the low, of course: last month, he was photographed kissing a "mystery woman" on the lips in a Parisian nightclub, Club 79.
And if Twitter is to be believed, many fans are siding with Patton -- whom many believe should have left Thicke the second the scandal with the "socialite" broke.
