'Mass Effect 4' Release Date & Gameplay: 'Andromeda' Will Be the Best & Largest Game in the Series, Says Exec
The "Mass Effect Trilogy" has given its devoted fans a ton of shooting, decision-making and exploration. The release of "Mass Effect 3" back in March 2012 was bittersweet as it provided the final chapter in the Commander Shepard storyline.
Fans have since held their collective breath in anticipation for any word from BioWare on the next installment of its popular action role-playing, third-person shooter video game. After three years since the release of "Mass Effect 3," BioWare and EA announced "Mass Effect: Andromeda" at E3 2015 to the delight of anxious RPG gamers, as per GameRant.
"When we wrapped up the original Mass Effect trilogy with Mass Effect 3: Citadel in early 2013, planning and design on Mass Effect: Andromeda was already well underway. We knew we wanted to start with a foundation composed of the best parts of any Mass Effect game: exciting new worlds to discover, great characters, and intense action. At the same time, we clearly wanted to expand the definition of what you should expect from a Mass Effect game," BioWare earlier explained on its official blog site following their E3 2015 announcement.
BioWare didn't give away too much about the upcoming game aside from the fact that it will take place in a new galaxy and will totally distance itself from the prior trilogy.
Since then, details of the fourth "Mass Effect" game has been known through installments with the latest coming from the game's creative boss himself.
Over the weekend, Alistair McNally made a Twitter post to confirm that "Mass Effect: Andromeda" will be the best of the series and consequently, the largest.
However, McNally did not elaborate on what the former actually meant. Where details of the upcoming game currently stand, it is only fitting for "Mass Effect: Andromeda" to be larger than past iterations of the BioWare's RPG since Game Rant earlier confirmed that the game will have a multiplayer element. The new element necessitates a wider game scope as well as more in-game features.
With regards to what is currently known about its gameplay, "Mass Effect: Andromeda" will feel similar to "Mass Effect 3." "There are some new elements that make it more dynamics, but overall similar feel [to Mass Effect 3]," said senior development director Chris Wynn on Twitter.
The upcoming game won't include well-loved characters from the prior trilogy and instead will focus on a new batch of heroes.
"Mass Effect: Andromeda" will release on PS4, Xbox One and PC in fall 2016.
