PS4 vs Xbox One: 'Titanfall’ Needs More Than 60GB to Install?
Gamers are getting pretty excited with the release of "Titanfall" just around the corner. But for PC gamers, if they love the game so much and they really want to play it, they better have a monster hard drive or remove some of their beloved old games and other files.
According to Vince Zampella, co-founder of Respawn Games, the developer behind "Titanfall," the game requires a hefty download and installation space. Last Feb. 24, MyStoryTV tweeted Zampella and asked, "Roughly how big will @Titanfallgame be? I'd like to know if I want to download or get the CD."
Zampella replied, "@MyStoryTV @Titanfallgame about 21GB of download and 48GB installed."
As Cinemablend pointed out, the game's installation size requirement exceeds the standards of a first-person shooter game. And, even though the game only offers multiplayer matches, it managed to beat "Battlefield 4" and "Call of Duty: Ghosts'" installation requirements of 30GB and 40GB.
But to reiterate, Zampella's response only refers to the PC version of the game. As for the Xbox version, the console's website stated that it requires up to 40GB for full download.
However, those who will purchase the digital version of the game won't be able to preload the files. They can only do so after doing a full download of the game following its launch.
This is because Microsoft recently announced that preloading of the game will not be offered in any platform.
In a statement to Polygon, a representative from the company said, "We believe in digital distribution, and are proud to give gamers a variety of ways to purchase and experience their games. However, pre-purchase and pre-download for 'Titanfall' for Xbox One will not be available from Xbox Store. We'll continue to strike a balance between digital distribution and its benefits, while supporting physical games purchased through our retail partners."
"Titanfall" will be available on March 11 for the PC and Xbox One, and on March 25 for the Xbox 360. On the same date as the game's Xbox One debut, Xbox will also reveal its Titanfall Limited Edition Wireless Controller. Aside from this, gamers can also take advantage of Xbox's Titanfall bundle promo by purchasing an Xbox One console that includes a Titanfall digital download and a month of Xbox Live Gold. The bundle costs the same as a standard Xbox One console.
