"Need for Speed" has hit the brakes on its release date. The PC version of the racing game will be delayed according to developer Ghost Games.

Instead of being released later this year, the release date of "Need for Speed" for PC will be moved to Spring 2016. In the official statement on the "Need for Speed" website, the team explained that the decision was made to delay the launch date after they studied community feedback on the games.

Upon learning of the players' preference for an unlocked frame rate, the developer decided to work on the "Need for Speed" installment further and fine tune it to deliver the best game possible.

"This decision on PC gives us the necessary development time to increase the visuals that we can deliver on PC," the statement read. "We will also include content updates that will have been released on console up to that time, making them available to all PC players from day one."

The statement also highlighted the game's interactive features saying, "'Need for Speed' is also committed to being a live service so we can deliver an ongoing experience that is constantly changing and evolving. We will include free content updates and challenges as ever-present ways for you to earn rewards and continually explore the game."

"Need for Speed" players should watch out for a closed beta on the game consoles in the following weeks. Fans can sign up for exclusive access in the "Need for Speed" website.

Ghost Games recently released a video clip enumerating five ways users will be able to play the new game and earn REP (reputation), the most important in-game currency.

"How will they remember you?" a voiceover sequence introduced the teaser. "In 'Need for Speed', that depends on how you drive."

In the exciting fusion of gameplay and in-engine footage, events and "Ways to Play" methods are revealed including Speed, Style, Build, Crew and Outlaw. Combine all for the ultimate "Need for Speed" experience.

According to the FAQ section of the official website, other notable features of "Need for Speed" are: an online connection requirement, twice the number of drivable roads than in "Need for Speed Rivals," customizable cars and future free content updates, among others.

A previous report from Latin Post listed a slew of great vehicles included on the roster such as MW M4, Lamborghini Diablo SV and Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

"Need for Speed" for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will push through with its original release date on Nov. 3 in North America and Nov. 5 worldwide.
