Manchester City kept their unblemished record, while Manchester United remained within striking distance after winning their respective matches in Week 5 of the 2015-16 English Premier League season.
Manchester City 1 - 0 Crystal Palace
Manchester City won their first four matches, but they were on the verge of absorbing their first draw of the season. But they found an unlikely hero and escaped with a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday at Selhurst Park.
Kelechi Iheanacho came in to replace Wilfried Bony in the 89th minute of the match. The 18-year-old Nigerian quickly made his presence felt as he scored the first goal of the match from short distance in the 90th minute, which eventually became the game-winning goal of the match.
Earlier in the game, record signing Kevin De Bruyne also made his debut for Manchester City after superstar striker Sergio Aguero went down with an injury 24 minutes into the match.
Manchester United 3 - 1 Liverpool
Meanwhile, Manchester United remained within striking distance of their rival after cruising to a 3-1 victory over Liverpool on Saturday at Old Trafford.
Daley Blind opened the scoring parade for the Red Devils four minutes into the second half, while Ander Herrera made it 2-0 in the 70th minute off a penalty kick after he drew a foul from Joseph Gomez inside the box.
David De Gea, who made his return to the starting lineup, failed to finish with a clean sheet after Christian Benteke converted from the center of the box following a corner kick.
Anthony Martial then sealed the victory for the Red Devils with another goal in the 86th minute off an assist from Ashley Young.
With the victory, Manchester City now have 10 points from three wins, one defeat and one draw. They are currently in third place and are five points behind Manchester City.
Leicester City are currently in solo second with 11 points from three wins and two draws. They escaped with a come from behind 3-2 victory against Aston Villa on Sunday at King Power Stadium.
