Ashley Salter may not have found love on "Bachelor in Paradise" Season 2, but once home, college ex-boyfriend Austin Brannen asked for her hand in marriage.
The 25-year-old alum of Chris Soules' "The Bachelor" season met her future husband years ago while they both attended Auburn University in Alabama. The two dated while in college, but then lost touch.
Brannen is a commercial real estate broker at NAI Brannen Goddard in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated Auburn University in 2011 with a Bachelors in Business Administration and Finance, according to his LinkedIn account.
Rumor has it the pair had been communicating during her stint on "Bachelor in Paradise." When she returned home from the show in June, they reconnected.
Her engagement surprises fans who thought she might end up with Nick Peterson or Dan Cox, both of whom she briefly dated while on "Bachelor in Paradise" Season 2.
Salter may have left Mexico single, but reuniting with Brannen has rekindled a long lost love.
In a black and white photo posted to her Instagram, she refers to him as, "my one and only love."
Salter has treated fans to several engagement photos on her Instagram account. Her caption, "12 is better than 1 #roses," for the engagement photo below pokes fun at the "Bachelor" franchise.
Her kooky personality made Salter a fan-favorite of "The Bachelor" Season 19. Host Chris Harrison said she is "one of my favorite women to have ever been on this show."
She decided to join the "Bachelor in Paradise" cast with the support of Chris Harrison. He thought she'd be perfect for Season 2 set in Mexico.
Fans will remember that in the first episode Salter got sick and was hospitalized. Cox went with her to the hospital so that she would not be alone. There was a connection between them, but Cox wanted to date other women, leaving Salter heartbroken and fans of the couple disappointed.
