When it comes to choosing a smartphone, how are we supposed to go about picking from the long list of options on the market?

One thing to take into consideration right away is determining which phones will be released in the near future. This is particularly important for people who wish to get the newest and most improved smartphones on the market.

For anyone who is anti-Apple products, the incoming Samsung Galaxy S5 -- which was rolled out just days ago but will not be released until April -- is a great place to start. For the most loyal iPhone users, the iPhone 5S is a solid option and it might even be smart to wait until the iPhone 6 release, which will not be much later than the Galaxy S5 release.

When it is all said and done, which phone is the best option? Interestingly enough, there may be more similarities than we initially might imagine.

Take, for instance, the fingerprint scanner that is present in both the iPhone 5s and the Samsung Galaxy S5. Furthermore, many of the applications available for both phones are the same.

Perhaps the biggest improvement in the Samsung Galaxy S5, aside from improving security via the fingerprint scanner, was how much the battery improved, according to CNN. There is also a power-saving feature.

The iPhone 5S, on the other hand, has some very interesting features to brag about as well. Most notably, the phone has been said by many to be the fastest phone that has ever been tested.

As far as comparing the two pones in price, this is impossible at this point due to the fact that a price tag has not yet been listed for the Samsung Galaxy S5.
