'Metal Gear Online' Release Date Announced, Gameplay Demo Trailer Shows Infiltrator, Scout, or Enforcer Classes [Watch]
Konami released "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" just this month, much to the delight of "Metal Gear" fans as well as Sandbox gamers everywhere.
The follow up to "Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes" has everything adventure aficionados wish for in a game. It has a vast open-world, cool weaponry, and cutting-edge gameplay.
What fans might not be too happy about the latest "Metal Gear" title, though, is the game's apparent deficiency in the multiplayer department.
In fairness to "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain," it did release with some semblance of a PvP mode but the feature remains restricted by a paywall.
Players have to spend real money to earn MB Coins. The artificial currency is necessary to unlock a portion of the game's multiplayer map, which players build their PvP bases on. Naturally, upgrading in the game's current online model requires more MB Coins, Game Spot pointed out.
But before multiplayer fans shun all hope for the game entirely, it should be noted that AAA titles (blockbuster games) have a way of releasing the bulk of their multiplayer feature only after gamers have presumably finished the games' single-player campaign.
"Grand Theft Auto Online" released on October 2013, a month after "GTA 5" retailed in stores.
Now, a recent report indicates Konami is following Rockstar's releasing schedule.
According to Game Rant, the Tokyo-based video game company will release "Metal Gear Online" next month. A gameplay demo trailer has also been launched.
In "Metal Gear Online," gamers take on the role of generic but heavily customizable mercs as they do battle with other players on the field. Characters can be upgraded depending on which of the three mercenary class they belong.
Close range combat is the bread and butter of the Infiltrator class. Infiltrators are agile and stealth-oriented. They are nearly invisible when using the Stealth camouflage.
The Scout class is for the well-balanced shooter. Scouts can more than keep up in close-range, but they are most effective at high vantage points where they can mark enemies with their upgradeable snipers. Scouts can join the ongoing skirmish but their main duty is to provide intelligence and support for ground allies.
For hard-hitters, the Enforcer class is the best choice. Enforcers use a variety of weapons and have the most stamina among the three character classes. They are heavily equipped and can take more amounts of damage than their counterparts.
"Metal Gear Online" will be available for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on Oct. 6, 2015. It will arrive on PC in 2016.
