Seattle Seahawks Fans Launch Fundraiser to Pay Ciara to Split With Quarterback Russell Wilson
Fans of the struggling, 0-2 Seattle Seahawks have launched a GoFundMe account in hopes of raising enough funds to entice singer Ciara to end her relationship with star quarterback Russell Wilson.
USA Today reports some fans are convinced the only way for Wilson to get back on track and snap out of a funk where he has seen him thrown nearly as many interceptions as touchdown passes over the first two weeks of the season is for him to put some distance between himself and the sultry singer.
To that end, creators of the fund were hoping to raise a minimum of $50,000 to help Ciara "jumpstart" her career and ensure "she has no time to be in a relationship." (The account has since been suspended).
In her detractors mind, the Ciara curse seems real. They point to how well ex-fiancé Future has been doing ever since he did what they are now pleading with Wilson to do. On the same weekend the Seahawks slipped to 0-2, the rapper celebrated the much hyped release of the 11-song mixtape collaboration "What A Time To Be Alive" with Drake.
"It's a little soundtrack for people that need it right now," Drake told Rolling Stone.
"I went to Atlanta for six days a couple weeks ago with the hopes of doing some songs with Future, and when you get around Future, it's like a vortex, that guy can outwork anybody right now. It's tough to see someone do four, five songs in one night and not try to match it."
Meanwhile, in the aftermath of the Packers 27-17 takedown of the defending NFC champions, the devoutly religious Wilson was forced to endure the taunts of Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
After the Seahawks came back to beat the Packers in last year's NFC title game, Wilson openly hinted he felt God had played a key role in helping his team conquer their rivals. On Sunday night, Rodgers was quick to return the favor.
"I think God was a Packers fan tonight," he said.
