Will boxing fans witness an explosive Miguel Cotto vs. Gennady Golovkin bout soon?

Veteran boxing coach Freddie Roach is excited for the possibility that the World Boxing Council champ Cotto will clash next with the unbeaten Kazakh fighter "Triple G," Boxing Scene reported. Roach also believes that Cotto can do something to match the boxing skills of the warrior, who boasts a 91 percent knockout rating courtesy of his 30 KO victories out of 33 wins, per BoxRec.

"I don't think he's invincible. I know it's a hard fight, I know he's a good puncher and I know all that. But I think it's a very good fight for the fans and for everyone in the world - so I would like to see it, yes," the trainer said.

Roach also thinks that his fighter can withstand "GGG's" massive form, even without a catch-weight, because, for the American trainer, Golovkin is not really that big at all.

However, in order for the two to face each other next, they should triumph each other's separate fights in the middleweight division. The World Boxing Association and International Boxing Organization king must be victorious against the International Boxing Federation titleholder David Lemieux on Oct. 17 at the Madison Square Garden in New York. Likewise, the Puerto Rican fighter must defend his WBC crown against the Mexican young fighter Saul "Canelo" Alvarez on Nov. 21 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

This may not be something that worries the world-class trainer as he thinks Cotto can easily defeat "Canelo," who, according to him, does not match Cotto's ability on the ring, a separate Boxing Scene article reported.

"I'm not scared of this guy. Just because he's a pretty boy and all the girls like watching him fight - doesn't mean he's a good fighter. He's okay, but he's not going to beat my guy - I promise you. At 3-1 [odds], I'm going to bet both my houses," Roach said.

For the Golovkin-Lemieux fight, Roach told FightHub that "Triple G" will "kill" the Canadian boxer in October.

It will be interesting to finally see Cotto facing Golovkin if ever they get past both their immediate foes. Several fans and even Golovkin's camp are beginning to speculate that Cotto is ready to duck the undefeated boxer, which is why Golovkin's trainer Abel Sanchez wants "Canelo" to be the new WBC champ. Sanchez believes "Canelo" will not be afraid of clashing with their mighty fighter, noted another Boxing Scene report.

"I think he's [Cotto] running from Golovkin...I think that Canelo himself being a young gun and having that Mexican following, he's not going to shy away from a tough fight," Sanchez said.
