A new featurette video has been released for the upcoming Starz series "Ash vs. Evil Dead," and it answers several questions about the titular hero and the new characters coming on-board the franchise.

According to Den of Geek, the show itself is expected to be one of the most rambunctious comedy rides in the horror genre since its own predecessor, "Army of Darkness."

There really is no other way to describe this series without mentioning the first two films delved less into the comedy aspect, and it wasn't until "Army" came out that the franchise started to identify with and feature comedy as a staple for the story going forward.

That being said, the new TV series will host an array of new characters with aging Ash (Bruce Campbell) playing the hero role once again. But this time, he has two people that are along for the ride, and in many ways, he is training them to fill his own role. He even shows a little ego by viewing them as sidekicks rather than apprentices.

But training the two of them means filling them in on the backstory of how the Necronomicon plays a role in the plague of Deadites they are fighting.

To further complicate matters in the show, Lucy Lawless will come in playing the role of Ruby, who has her own mysterious background, and she ultimately blames Ash for everything going wrong in the world. One may also deduce she is a scorned former lover, but that storyline has not been proven yet.

Ruby's own journey to find Ash will be accompanied by a disgraced former Michigan State Trooper, Amanda Fisher (Jill Marie Jones). Fisher also sees Ash as a murderer and blames him for the death of her partner.
