The cast for the next installment in the "Underworld" franchise has been expanding, and now there are some new younger vampires being added to the list.

For fans of the franchise, the new film has added actress Lara Pulver to the project, and she has been cast as a vampire alongside the main heroine of the series, Selene (Kate Beckinsale), according to Deadline.

Pulver is perhaps best known by fans as the woman who portrayed Irene Adler in the second season of the BBC series "Sherlock." But she also has many other roles to her name, which includes appearances in "Edge of Tomorrow," "Da Vinci's Demons" and "True Blood."

The details for the next film in the franchise are somewhat guarded at this time, but there are a few returning characters from the previous film to note, which includes Beckinsale and Theo James.

James played the role of David in the previous film, "Underworld: Awakening," and he aligned with Selene in an effort to combat the Lycan and human forces that have hunted the vampire race to the point of extinction.

There is reason to believe that the next film will be a continuation of the previous storyline, which was playing out at the conclusion of the film. At the end, fans could see that hybrid creature Michael had broken out of his frozen prison, and the new film will obviously pick back up with them reuniting in some way.

It was also learned that in some way, Selene and Michael have a child together, and she too has the hybrid powers of her father. Both hybrids have a direct lineage that dates back to a character from the Dark Ages and have been bestowed the power of both supernatural races.

Tobias Menzies was also cast in a role in the next film as a Lycan leader. Following his performance in "Outlander," fans can expect this to be a fantastic casting choice for the film.
