'Dancing with the Stars' Season 21 Rumors: Will Kim Zolciak Leave DWTS After Suffering Mini Stroke?
Reality television personality Kim Zolciak-Biermann survived a series of low scores on "Dancing with the Stars" due to a few routines that aren't quite up to the judges' standards, but will she get the chance to compete further for the coveted Mirror Ball trophy?
According to a report from Hollywood Life, the 37-year-old DWTS contestant was rushed to the hospital on Wednesday after suffering a mini stroke during a flight from Los Angeles to Atlanta. She was unable to speak and was completely numb on the left side of her body.
Fortunately, the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star recovered and took to social media on Thursday to assure her followers of her health. Zolciak-Biermann posted a selfie on her Instagram account from her hospital bed.
The caption read: "The last 24hrs have been whirlwind! I landed yesterday morning from LAX (took the red eye right after DWTS) I got home and within minutes suffered a TIA (mini stroke) the left side of my body went completely numb and my speech was gone."
She thanked her family by continuing, "Extremely grateful for @sladeosborne @briellebiermann @nikitpressley @kroybiermann for quick reactions! I have 100%of my feeling back THANK GOD."
"Still in the hospital but I just know I'm getting released today!" she ended, giving her fans some hope that she won't have to pull out of the reality dance series.
In the report from Hollywood Life, Dr. Bruce Lee, M.D. revealed that Zolciak-Biermann's return depends on her doctor's assessment, but there is a chance she makes a full recovery in time for the show.
"If Kim has been evaluated and put on blood thinners if need be, there is no reason she can't return to her regular routine," Dr. Lee explained. "She could return to the strenuous activities involved with Dancing With The Stars if she gets the OK from her doctors."
He warned people of the situations that might have contributed to the reality star's condition saying, "If a person is immobile for a long period of time, like Kim was on her flight from LA to ATL, a blood clot in the leg could have been formed. The blood clot could have broken into pieces and a part went into her brain. When traveling on an airplane, it is a standard recommendation to always get up and walk around every hour."
The next episode of "Dancing with the Stars" Season 21 is on Monday, Sept. 28.
