'Persona 5' Release Date & Gameplay: New Character, Storyline of New PS4, PS3 Game Revealed
After the publisher of "Persona 5" announced the delay of its release, director Katsura Hashino revealed some exciting news about the game.
According to a report from Attack of the Fan Boy, the latest installment of the series titled "Shin Tensei Megami" has added a new character named Yusuke Kitagawa.
The character, who is clad with a fox mask, will be the fifth among all the characters for "Persona 5." The concept of the game revolves around teens fighting a common aim to bring down corrupt citizens, not only for self-glory, but also in their quest to save Tokyo against the enemies.
The distinct difference of "Persona 5" from its previous versions is that, this time, the teens are the ones being chased down by the enemies instead of them roaming around the city fighting a singular threat within Tokyo's premises.
In a statement, Hashino said, "In the previous game, we wrote a story that involved having a justice group chase down a bad guy that could be easily feared by just about anyone."
"This time, it's about a group of high school students that are being chased by unexpected occurrences due to the justice they believe in," he added.
"Persona 5" was primarily slated to launch this 2015, but because Atlus wanted to give more to their fans, they opted to delay its release to create more additional content and gameplay. The announcement was made during the Tokyo Game Show after the game's trailer was shown.
According to Gamespot, "Persona 5" was originally intended to make its debut on PlayStation 3 until it finally wrapped up its development in time for the next-generation gaming console PlayStation 4.
"Persona 5" is all about the two-sided life of teenagers needing to balance everything, and director Hashino wants to show that through the game's concept. He added, "We're writing the story to convey a thrilling everyday life in the shoes of these characters that are as large as life, in this juvenile school setting."
When developer Atlus first introduced the game's trailer, their aim was to inform their fans about the gameplay, concept and characters of the series. Atlus and Sega are both Shin Tensei Megami series publishers, in which Atlus was obtained by Sega in 2013. Since then, Atlus has been assigned to govern the development and publishing of the game in regions including Japan and North America.
