ABC Dancing With the Stars 2014 Lineup: Karina Smirnoff Wants Bill Clinton and His Saxophone to Join 'DWTS' Season 18
Tomorrow, ABC will announce the 2014 Dancing With the Stars lineup. Will season 18's star-studded cast also include a presidential contestant?
If season 13 winning dancer Karina Smirnoff has anything to say about it, former United States president Bill Clinton will be on the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars. The dancer, who claimed her victory alongside J.R. Martinez, spotted him this weekend.
"I am going to walk over to Mr. Clinton and gonna ask him if he would ever consider doing Dancing With The Stars," Smirnoff told Radar Online.
The dancer reportedly went up to the former president during a Los Angeles charity event and asked the 67-year-old to join the show.
"I really hope he says yes because I think if Bill Clinton does the show he will win it," Smirnoff explained. "He just doesn't have to dance. He could just stand there, and we are all going to vote for him. Bill Clinton is amazing. He's got such a presence. Every time he walks into the room you are drawn to him."
The cast could have already been finalized when Smirnoff made her plea, but surely a former United States leader could have some pull. The real question is whether or not the saxophone machine would want to do the show. In 2011, he did not.
"This is interesting, actually they contacted me once about this, and I told them I didn't have the time to train for it," Clinton said on The Rachel Ray Show. "You know you actually go out there and train. You really work at it."
The former president may have had practice of his own since then, giving those who would enjoy a special Clinton saxophone performance a glimmer of hope.
"Just last night Hillary said to me, 'You know, when I'm not Secretary of State anymore, we should go take dancing lessons,'" he continued. "So we'll start with the tango."
The Dancing With the Stars season 18 lineup will be announced tomorrow during Good Morning America.
