‘Rainbow Six: Siege’ Beta Extended, Story Mode Scrapped?
Here's some good news for fans who are enjoying the experience of "Rainbow Six: Siege" so far. Ubisoft recently announced the extension of the beta's running time, as well as new details and features of the much-anticipated shooter game.
According to Community Developer Chase "Electr1cPanda" Straight from the Ubisoft forums, the team has decided to make the run time for the "Rainbow Six: Siege" beta longer due to the positive response of the audience. The beta will now be available until Thursday, Oct. 1.
"We've been getting good feedback on the content of the beta, and matchmaking and server stability have already been improved," Straight wrote in the official release. "There are still a few issues to work out, of course, and we will continue to do that over the course of the beta."
He added, "Given the current situation, we've made the decision to extend the Closed Beta by 3 days. It will run through Thursday, October 1st."
The recent announcement also included updates for those who are waiting access to the beta. According to the official statement, all pre-order customers may access the beta already, while the guaranteed access code invites are currently being distributed.
The extension will likely fine-tune the game further to deliver a better gaming experience. It's not the first time Ubisoft has chosen to take a little more time with the game. Last month, the developer released a statement on their official website saying that they decided to push back the game's release date for further adjustments.
Another major detail for the new "Rainbow Six: Siege" is its complete focus on multi-player tactical missions and the lack of a single-player story mode, which may be surprising for long-time fans, who have enjoyed the campaign experience before. However, art director Scott Mitchell was quick to assure a multi-dimensional experience for players, according to PC Games N.
"There is no story mode per se," Mitchell said during the EGX 2015. "You go through training, where you get to experience different operators and their devices. You can play against enemy AI in co-op through all the maps. You can customise matches, so that's what we're offering on the single-player side of things."
He added, "It's a pretty good training ground, and on top or that you're unlocking the same content as you would playing in PvP. You're still gaining Stars, Renown Points, and new operatives."
"Rainbow Six: Siege" for PC, PS4 and Xbox One will be out on Dec. 1.
