Author Tom Clancy's most famous character Jack Ryan may finally grace the small screen, with a TV adaptation set for the fictional government agent. Even more exciting is the news that the series also has Michael Bay attached to it and is poised to make its debut on Amazon.

According to Deadline, the show hails from Paramount TV and is a hot commodity on the open market right now. But there is reason to believe it will be landing at Amazon, which makes sense for the franchise.

The character of Jack Ryan has already been immortalized on the big screen by four different actors in movies that were considered standalone features.

Alec Baldwin played the character alongside Sean Connery in "The Hunt for Red October." Harrison Ford played the character in two films: "Patriot Games" and "Clear and Present Danger." Ben Affleck also played the character in "The Sum of All Fears."

The last person to play the character was Chris Pine in "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit."

Although the TV series is expected to use the Clancy novels as canon for the series, the show will be taking on alternative storylines and matching them up with events from the books. Basically, the series will be about Ryan's rise in the CIA, starting with his roots in the military and the U.S. Naval Academy, and his eventual rise to the presidency.

The project itself is the brainchild of "Lost" alums Carlton Cuse and Graham Roland.

Roland's own background in the military makes him a perfect fit for the series, not just as a writer, but also as a consultant on storylines.

Amazon is the rumored destination of the show, which makes sense. The online retailer already sells the Jack Ryan books, as well the character's movies in both digital and hard copy.

There has been no word yet on who will be taking up the role or when the series will debut.
