Brittney Griner, Glory Johnson Divorce News: Pregnant With Twins Johnson Ordered to Vacate Home Couple Once Shared
Brittney Griner has been legally granted exclusive possession of the Phoenix home she once shared with newlywed bride Glory Johnson, effectively kicking the pregnant with twins fellow WNBA star off the property.
TMZ Sports reports a judge has temporarily declared Griner the sole occupant of the home while the couple finalizes their increasingly bitter divorce. The order stipulates Johnson must vacate the residence immediately and has to clear a date with the Phoenix Mercury star to reenter the home to pick up personal belongings such as clothing, toiletries and luggage.
Whenever that is, Johnson must be accompanied by police and will only be allowed 20 minutes to retrieve all her possessions.
Johnson and Griner split after just 28 days of marriage earlier this year. Even before they formally tied the knot, the couple's union was known to be a volatile one with both of them being arrested on domestic violence charges just days before they walked down the aisle.
TMZ reported Griner suffered cuts and a bite mark in the April scuffle and Johnson was bleeding from the mouth when police arrived.
Johnson is scheduled to give birth in January and maintains the two planned the pregnancy together, while Griner hasn't indicated if she plans to have a role in the kids' lives.
USA Basketball recently announced the 6-foot-8 inch center will be suspended from upcoming training camp for an unspecified time as a result of the domestic violence incident.
"USA Basketball has conducted extensive interviews with everyone involved, and because Brittney has continued to show remorse and has dealt with this issue head-on, USA Basketball believes that the discipline it is imposing on Brittney is appropriate and fair," USA Basketball CEO Jim Tooley said.
Griner was one of the leaders of the U.S. gold medal winning team at last fall's world championships, averaging 12 points, six rebounds and two blocks.
