LeBron James News, Rumors & Free Agency: Will King James Leave The Miami Heat?
LeBron James is hoping to attend Zydrunas Ilgauskas's retirement ceremony in Cleveland this week, but if he does, King James better be prepared to talk about his future -- especially since he would be returning to his old stomping grounds.
Rumors have swirled around LeBron in recent months as he approaches a potential opt-out of his contract. These rumors have suggested that the Miami Heat star would be a good fit in Los Angeles with the Clippers, but things remain unclear right now. All in all, a departure from Miami seems to be unlikely after LeBron recently said that he couldn't see himself leaving the team after this season.
A return to Cleveland this week for his friend's ceremony could spark more talk about LeBron's future, but he said he doesn't want it to be all about him.
"I hope it doesn't, if I'm able to make it," James said, according to ESPN.com. "It's not my day, it's not about me. It's about Z. But it wouldn't matter to me. Obviously I'm there for a dear friend, to be able to support him, if I'm able to make it, and that's the main thing."
Although he hopes to go, he is not yet sure if he will be able to.
"I want to be there, but we'll see. I'm not sure just yet," James said. "I think it's going to be a great day for my friend, a dear friend of mine. I'm excited for him."
LeBron recently reflected on his relationship with Ilgauskas and his campaign to bring him to Miami.
"It was very important (having him in Miami in 2010-11) and I came up short," James said. "Part of my whole inspiration bringing him (to Miami) was to try to win him an NBA championship. I tried to do it in Cleveland and came up short. I did it one year while he was here in Miami."
