Taylor Swift Donates $50,000 to Backup Dancer’s Nephew With Cancer
Taylor Swift has taken it upon herself to donate $50,000 to a backup dancer's nephew who was recently diagnosed with cancer.
The "Shake It Off" singer, known for giving back when it comes to cancer-related causes, made the generous donation to the GoFundMe fundraiser for 13-month-old Ayden, according to Billboard. Her donation more than doubled the initial fundraising goal, which was originally $20,000.
"Baby Ayden, I'm lucky enough to perform with your uncle Toshi on tour," Taylor wrote on Ayden's GoFundMe page. "All of us are praying for you and your mama and sending so much love your way. Love, Taylor."
Ayden is the nephew of Kim "Toshi" Davidson, who is one of the 25-year-old singer's dancers on her "1989" world tour.
Davidson posted a photo of himself and Ayden with a message on Instagram earlier this week in hopes of spreading the word about his nephew's diagnosis and GoFundMe fundraising page.
"My youngest Nephew Ayden 'Lil Toshi' only 13 months old has been diagnosed with Cancer," Davidson wrote. "Keep him in your prayers please...They are still running test to find out the stage and how far it has spread...GoFundMe link in Bio...if you want to donate ... all I ask is for you to pray for him...Value the life you have and live it... Spread Love."
Swift is also going through her own tumultuous experience, witnessing one of her family members battle cancer. Earlier this year, she announced in a blog post that her mother Andrea Swift was diagnosed with the illness.
"Thank you for caring about my family so much that she would want me to share this information with you. I hope and pray that you never get news like this," she wrote.
Swift released her latest album "1989" on Oct. 27, 2014. The album has produced the singles "Shake It Off," "Blank Space," "Style," "Bad Blood" and "Wildest Dreams."
