Another year, another tear-jerking film adaptation of a Nicholas Sparks novel. Lionsgate Movies releases the official trailer for "The Choice," featuring Teresa Palmer and Benjamin Walker in a heartfelt romance set in picturesque North Carolina.

"The Choice" follows the story of neighbors Travis Shaw (Walker) and Gabby Holland (Palmer), who fall in love after a rocky beginning that saw their two dogs having puppies together. The first few scenes of the teaser video, released via YouTube, show Travis and Gabby having infuriating arguments, but as they get to know each other and their families, the two begin an affair that neither was expecting.

"Spanning a decade and tracing the evolution of a love affair that is ultimately tested by life's most defining events, this story features a memorable ensemble of friends and family in Sparks' beloved North Carolina setting," the description of the video read.

The two-minute trailer showed flashes of the film that portrayed the small-town charm that's telling of a Nicholas Sparks novel, along with love triangles, close family ties and a life-threatening accident that could end up in tragedy. Long-time fans will enjoy the combination of sweet romance and heart-wrenching drama that Sparks is known to do so well.

Although the author's history of churning out box-office romances might be enough to draw droves of fans to the theaters, the two lead actors will keep the crowd captivated as they have stolen the show even in the short video clip. Walker, who was in "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter," displayed leading man potential in his dramatic scenes, while his pretty co-star Palmer, known for her roles in "Warm Bodies" and "The Ever After," portrayed her girl next door character with charisma and grace.

Aside from the two leads Palmer and Walker, the film features plenty of familiar faces including Alexandra Daddario ("San Andreas"), Maggie Grace ("Taken", "Lost"), Tom Welling ("Smallville") and Tom Wilkinson ("The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel").

According to Deadline, "The Choice" is the first independent film from the new Nicholas Sparks Productions.

So far, eight Nicholas Sparks novels have been adapted to the big screen: "A Walk To Remember," "Message in a Bottle," "The Notebook," "The Lucky One," "Safe Haven," "The Longest Ride," "The Best of Me," and, now, "The Choice."

And reportedly, the stories will be making their way to the small screen as well. According to Entertainment Weekly, The CW is working on a new series that's based on the hit movie "The Notebook."

"I don't believe we're going to see the older couple - what they become," CW president Mark Pedowitz said during the Television Critics Association's press tour. "But things change [in development]. I'm thrilled Nick Sparks wanted to do it at The CW."

"The Choice" is slated to hit theaters on Feb. 5.
