'Star Wars Battlefront' Beta Features: Fans To Enjoy Major Characters But Requires Massive Space on Consoles
"Star Wars Battlefront" is almost here, but The Force is going to need a lot of space on the hard drive so players should clear up some space ahead of the beta release date.
In the official "Star Wars Battlefront" website, EA confirmed that the upcoming shooter game's open beta will be requiring 11GB of space on the PC and 7GB of free space on consoles such as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The PC version of "Star Wars Battlefront" beta will be available for pre-loading beginning 1 a.m. PT or 10 a.m. CET on Wednesday, Oct. 7.
According to a report from IGN, major characters like Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker will be part of the beta as a glimpse to the real in-game experience. It's set to whet the players' appetite for the actual "Star Wars Battlefront" game, a previous report from Latin Post revealed.
"The beta will consist of both our offline and online modes including co-op and split-screen co-op," community manager of EA Mathew Everett explained.
Three entire modes of the game set in three iconic "Star Wars" planets will be available in the upcoming beta: Walker Assault on Hoth, Drop Zone on Sullust and Survival Mission on Tatooine. All of the users can choose to ally with the Rebels or the Imperials, as well as play until level five. Once players hit the fifth level, advancement is blocked but special items can still be unlocked.
As an added bonus, EA has also designed the "Star Wars Battlefront Companion" experience for players during the beta testing, which lets players experience the card-based game "Base Command", earn credits for the game, track game stats and more. It's available for all players with an EA account at the official "Star Wars Battlefront" website.
This new venture is created to keep the fans in "Star Wars" mode even beyond playing the game. In an official release, "Companion" producer Jesper Nielsen explains, "When you're away from your console or PC and can't access the game, the Companion lets you stay in the Star Wars Battlefront universe."
This new multiplayer shooter game is set to be one of the biggest releases of the year and Xbox One users can pre-order as early as now at the Xbox Store.
The "Star Wars: Battlefront" beta will drop on Oct. 8 and last until Oct. 12. "Star Wars: Battlefront" for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC is slated for release on Nov. 17.
