A new Xbox One gaming experience is coming in November, but users will have to wait a bit more for Cortana to make its way to their Xbox consoles.

Xbox Live director for programming Larry Hryb, also known as "Major Nelson," hinted in a recent release that the much-awaited gaming assistant will be making its debut next year instead of in November, when many fans expected it to be launched alongside the next Xbox Live update.

"For those who have asked about Cortana, our plan is to add Cortana to the Xbox One experience preview later this year," Hryb shared on his website. "From there, we'll ensure that the experience is tuned for gamers before we officially launch Cortana in 2016."

No reason was given for the delay.

The news might disappoint some fans who are looking forward to the convenience of having Cortana on hand. According to the official Xbox release, the personal gaming assistant is a huge help in improving the experience on the console.

"Cortana helps you elevate your game, gets smarter over time, and works across all your Windows 10 PCs, tablets and phones (Cortana will also soon be available on iPhone and Android phones)," the Xbox Wire press release read. "Through voice commands on Xbox One, Cortana will assist you to more quickly find great games, new challengers and friends on Xbox Live, or accomplish common tasks. Cortana can also help you get achievements by surfacing videos and information to help you succeed.

The statement continued, "Working across Windows 10 PCs, tablets, phones, Xbox One, and iPhone and Android phones, Cortana can assist you wherever are you are - like setting an important reminder from your phone to receive on your Xbox One when you log on at home."

Despite the delay of the Cortana, there are enough new features on the Xbox One experience to make it worth the update. According to the Xbox release, the update will include a redesigned Home, a more integrated Community section and better-looking Xbox Avatars.

Some preview members have already been granted access to a peek at the new Xbox One experience, and more were invited over the previous weekend.

A recent update for the Xbox Beta App for Windows 10 also included new features such as party text chat, accessing and replying to messages directly from the notifications, and activity alerts and sharing for content by users and their friends.
