Lil Wayne Charges Birdman 'Screwed' Nicki Minaj, Drake, Tyga Out of Profits Too
Lil Wayne alleges in new legal documents that onetime fellow Cash Money artists Nicki Minaj, Drake and Tyga are also convinced they "got screwed" in their dealings with label boss Birdman.
According to TMZ, Wayne levels his explosive allegations in new documents related to his ongoing and increasingly bitter legal feud with his former boss and "dad." To back up his claim, he insists he has letters from Drake and Tyga's representatives, as well as a separate letter from Minaj's crew contending that her producers were shortchanged.
Wayne and his company Young Money Entertainment claim they were entitled to a sizable chunk of the $100 million advance parent company Cash Money Records recently received from Universal.
Birdman and his accountants, however, beg to differ, arguing that they gave Wayne a $20 million advance for Young Money in 2012, another $12 million for his solo album, and as much as $70 million in advances, royalties, marketing and recording costs for his roster of artists.
In fact, if anyone has come up short, Cash Money execs claim it's the "Tha Carter V" artist. They insist that Wayne was obligated to deliver 21 albums over seven years from his stable, but has only produced 13.
Previously, Wayne had alleged that Birdman and his execs are "so incompetent," both Drake and Minaj were on their way out the door. He went on to charge his former mentor had "grossly mismanaged" the company by consistently shortchanging people across the industry and "failing to fork over profits and lots of other stuff."
Earlier in the year, rumors circulated Wayne might be willing to put all the madness behind him and agree to continue working with the label, if he were paid what he felt he was owed.
He was rumored to be angered most over two payments reportedly totalling $10 million, which he was allegedly owed for the completion of "Tha Carter V."
