"Val," a folksy bartender played by none other than Hillary Clinton, served up drinks for "Hillary Clinton," a thirsty presidential front-runner played by Kate McKinnon, on last weekend's "Saturday Night Live."

The former secretary of state used her cameo appearance on "SNL" to humorously address questions, such as her stance on the Keystone XL Pipeline and her evolution from opponent to supporter of same-sex marriage.

"Nothing wrong with taking your time," the real Clinton said in an apparent reference to the criticism the presidential candidate has faced over her months-long refusal to weigh in on the Keystone Pipeline, a project she now opposes. "What's important is getting it right."

The skit also tackled her position on gay marriage, the legalization of which Clinton opposed during her 2008 White House campaign -- a position she switched in March 2013. While "Val" tried to tell "Hillary" that her change-of-heart came in time, "Hillary" insisted that it could have occurred sooner, The Wall Street Journal noted.

The "Saturday Night Live" skit, of course, did not miss the chance to dig into Clinton's colorful GOP counterpart, Donald Trump. The real Hillary asked whether Trump was the guy who referred to everybody else as "losers," while the fake Hillary said she hoped the real estate tycoon would win his party's nomination.

"He must," McKinnon, as Clinton, said. "I want to be the one to take him down. I will destroy him and I will mount his hair in the Oval Office."

The "SNL" appearance, which marked a chance for Clinton to "rejuvenate" her campaign, follows a 2008 episode in which she appeared alongside Amy Poehler, the Atlantic recalled. The NBC program has become a stop that is virtually required for those running for the White House.

And while the bar-themed sketch received generally positive reviews, one 2016 contender did not seem to like it, Hollywood Life noted. "Taran Killam plays a way better fake Donald Trump than a real Hillary Clinton plays herself," Trump commented on social media.
