2015 Latin American Music Awards: Lucero to Host Award Show
Singer and actress Lucero will be taking on hosting duties at the first-ever Latin American Music Awards on Oct. 8.
According to Billboard, Lucero has been confirmed as the night's mistress of ceremonies. While known for her music and for her appearances in various telenovelas, the star has had plenty of experience with hosting too.
The 46-year-old has hosted a variety of other events, including the Mexican Telethon since 1997, coached contestants on "La Voz México," and has hosted the Latin Grammy Awards eight different times.
The star confirmed the news on Twitter and changed her Twitter page to feature images promoting the Latin American Music Awards.
Telemundo announced the nominations on Sept. 2. The night's biggest nominee, Nicky Jam, is nominated for five categories and has six nominations, most for his hit "El Perdón" featuring Enrique Iglesias. His nominations include Artist of the Year, Song of the Year and Favorite Male Artist.
Fellow reggaeton star J Balvin is up for five nominations, including New Artist of the Year, Song of the Year and Favorite Urban Song. Iglesias and Romeo Santos both follow with four nominations each.
The night will also feature several performances from stars like Daddy Yankee, Farruko, Luis Coronel, Paulina Rubio, Jesse & Joy, Reik, Fonseca, Jencarlos Canela, CD9, Gloria Trevi, Gerardo Ortiz, Il Volo, DJ Alex Sensation, Shaggy, Lil Jon, Yandel and Natalie La Rose.
Recently, it was announced that Cuban music legend Celia Cruz will be honored at the awards with a special tribute by Colombian star Maluma, salsa singer La India, Yuri and actress Aymée Nuviola, who portrays the late star in the new Telemundo series "Celia."
The 2015 Latin American Music Awards will air live from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Saturday, Oct. 8 on Telemundo.
