Huawei Honor Play 5X Release Date & Features: 5-Inch Mid-Range Smartphone Packs Whopping 4,000mAh Battery
After successfully unveiling the 5.7-Inch Nexus 6P phablet during Google's Nexus event in California a week ago, Huawei is now sending out invitations for its own media event to be held this weekend.
If a recently posted launch teaser from the company's official Weibo account is to be believed, the China-based mobile manufacturer will introduce the highly speculated Honor Play 5X smartphone during the said showcase.
According to Times-News, the teaser indicated that the Huawei event was dubbed as "Youth Playing Non-Stop." However, not much about the Honor Play 5X was revealed.
Even so, the handset has already been approved for sale in China by Chinese telecommunications regulator TENAA. Through the certification process, most of the handset's specs have been unearthed.
The Honor Play 5x has a five-inch 1280 x 720 HD display with 294ppi pixel density, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory that can be expanded via micro-SD to up to 32GB. It is powered by MediaTek's 1.5GHz quad-core MT6735 processor and a Mali-T720 GPU. Furthermore, it is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, a five-megapixel front-facing unit and a whopping 4,000 mAh battery.
The handset runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop underneath Huawei's Emotion UI operating system. It also has support for Wi-Fi, 3G, 4G LTE and other standard connectivity options.
Other rumored specs include dual-SIM capability and a plastic build that measures 143.1 x 71.8 x 9.7mm and weighs 159 grams. The price range of the Huawei Honor Play 5X is expected to hover around 1,000 Yuan or approximately $158.
Another handset that could be unveiled during this weekend's event is the Huawei P9.
Reliable tech leaker, @OnLeaks, recently tweeted an image of the P9's rumored panels.
The live photo revealed that buyers can choose to purchase the handset in either gold or white. One of the panels was labeled "LTE" while the other was branded "Delux."
Both panels shown on the leaked image had the same marker for two rear-facing cameras, one LED flash unit and a cutout that suggested the inclusion of a laser autofocus feature, GSM Arena reported.
The P9 will employ Huawei's very own Kirin 950, a processor shown in recent benchmarks to be more powerful than the Exynos 7420, as per Mobile-dad via WCCF Tech.
Lastly, the handset is rumored to have a 5.2-inch 1080p display, 4GB of RAM and a 16-megapixel back camera sensor.
The Honor Play 5X and P9 are expected to headline Huawei's event this Saturday, Oct. 10.
